The jubilee, 10th Conference on Optoelectronic and Electronic Sensors COE 2008 is planned for 22-25 June, 2008 in Poznan. The Conference will be organized by Poznan University of Technology (PUT), Division of Metrology and Optoelectronics, Institute of Electrical Engineering and Electronics, under the auspices of Committee on Electronics and Telecommunications of Polish Academy of Sciences and Photonics Society of Poland.

The Conference will be held at hotel ”ORBIS-POLONEZ'' in Poznan. The Hotel is situated in the centre of Poznan. It is only 5 km away from the Airport and 2 km from the Main Railway Station. Convenient location may create a pleasant background for presentation of the latest scientific achievements, fruitful discussions and inspiring exchange of experiences in all presented topics.

COE conferences gather scientists working in basic research concerning sensors and engineers dealing with sensor development working at universities, research institutes and industry. Materials concerning design, fabrication, investigation and application of sensors may be within the field of interest of many people from the technical community. The new trends in sensor technology and the most spectacular achievements in this field will be described by invited speakers. During plenary sessions, a number of invited speakers will deliver important review lectures highlighting the new development during the last years and hot topics in sensor technology and applications.

The topics covered are mainly on optoelectronic and electronic sensors. More specified subjects are: sensors and microsystems, micromechanics and microengineering, micromechatronics, related materials and technologies, modeling and simulation, design and applications, sensor systems.

Authors will be ask to submit full papers. The conference contributions will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee of the conference and approved by this body. The researchers results will be presented as oral papers and as poster papers. There are predicted about 120 presentations.

Young scientists (MSc and PhD students) will be invited to submit their works to take part in the Best Work Competition of the COE 2008 Conference competition. The best three works will be awarded.

We also plan to organize a technical exhibition – the companies producing the optoelectronic and electronic sensors, devices and equipment, from Poland and other countries, are invited to participate.

As always, an important event will be a biennale PTTS general meeting devoted to a report on the PTTS Authorities activity and election of a new PTTS Board and Review Committee. Also, there will be nice evening events: a bonfire with grill at the Malta Lake (on June 23, 2008), and a banquet including “Happy Birthday” ceremony for the COE, artistic performance and a “dancing session” (on June 24, 2008).

On behalf of the Scientific and Organizing Committees,

Prof. Anna Cysewska-Sobusiak
